We hung around today, went in the pool, did wash and ate local. The prices are a lot cheaper than NYC!

  Destination Sioux City, IA  We drove all day from Indiana, through Illinois and then got to our campsite in Iowa about 10:30pm.  We found out we were actually in South Dakota when we crossed State Line! All you see going through IN, IL & IA is cornfields and soy beans. While we were camping there we were next to a 4th generation local corn farmer named Shane who told us his kids want nothing to do with farming as their careers. So if you ate today, Thank a farmer and hope the next generation wants to farm!!  He also gave us a bag of corn. w 

 

 

  A visit to Michael Jackson's House Well, Joe could care less if he went here but he knew I really wanted to.  We were staying only 20 miles away. Also, Me and Heidi loved the Jackson 5 when we were kids and I just had to go! It's sad that it's just a deserted town now.  Many blocks are just empty lots now because all the houses were either burned down or just left to rot. It was once a mecca for America's steel industry in the 1960's but when the industry left Gary, IN it started the decline. After going to the Jackson House we went to the beach on Lake Michigan for a beautiful day!    The trees are the empty lots that used to have houses on them. Jackson 5 childhood home 2300 Jackson St. Well I wrote something from me & Heidi on the board that you can't see but it says  RIP Michael, With Love, Dori & Heidi  LOL!

 Aug. 18 HERE ON THE RIGHT DAY! Going for a 2 mile hike. Who the hell would think to hike uphill in sand!!!! And who's idea to make trails here! Beautiful Lake Michigan at the end of a hell hike (for Dori) We take a different trail back cuz it was 1/4 mile shorter but OMG stairs UP,UP,UP then DOWN,DOWN,DOWN!!!   I need a very looooooong rest! After a day like that,  this is what I looked like!

Aug 17... Well not exactly!!  Went to check in only to find out we were a day early! LOL!! We ended up finding an rv campground 6 miles away with a pool that had trees growing out of it!! Best time of the day. Tea Time! Breakfast is great in pee smelling truck stops The Start of corn fields for the next few states going west! Rip Van Winkle works in PA. Think he was walking to Indiana for lunch! Sandcreek campground.  The one we got 6 miles from Indiana Dunes. It was owned by missionaries that were in Mongolia for 19 year! Still serving lost people like me & Joe! LOL!!

WELL AT LEAST THESE 2 DAYS ON THE ROAD SO FAR! 1. CHIPPED MY FRONT TOOTH (Only a little) 2. LOST TOOL FOR THE CAMPER HITCH. (Obviously had to buy a new one) 3. CRACKED THE BACK TAIL LIGHT ON THE TRUCK!  Hopefully that's it cuz we have a lot more days to go!!!!!

Home cooked spaghetti and meatballs. Yummy! OMG! Best black cherry ice cream ever! The chocolate raspberry truffle was awesome too!

    Our guess is Baba went to this church as a kid. This hotel was probably the place to be back in its day but it sure has seen better days!
